I am currently working on my family tree and wondered if anyone could give me any information on the following. Jane Ann Christie b 17 Feb 1866 - d 1936. Jemima Christie b 12 February 1864 - d 1927. Maggie Christie b 13 Dec 1867 - d April 1902. James Duncan, 4 Panmure Street, Arbroath, married Maggie in Stoneshaven in 1897, Maggie died in Arbroath 1902 . The three women were born in Fettercairn, Kincardine. All three are noted in the 1891 Census as living at 37 West Newgate, Arbroath. I have different addresses after that i.e. 15 Lochland Street and 8 Maule Street, Arbroath. Jane Ann Christie married a William Smith, Joiner (Widower, home address 33 Lochland Street) on 24 July 1926. They moved with Jemima to 8 Maule Street after their marriage. William Smith was married to a Jessie Skinner/Smith b Logie Pert, Forfarshire and they had a son aged 5 (taken from 1901 census). According to the Arbroath Year Book, there was a Milliners shop named Misses Christie at 15 West Port between 1925-1930 and also Christie had a Laundry at Maule Street 1929-30. Any information would be appreciated......many thanks.

MIKE CHRISTIE SEEKING INFO ON CHRISTIE FAMILY FROM ARBROATH |
Posted by nzmike 11 Jan 2009 : 10:00:27 PM |
I am interested in any information regarding my Christie forebears who lived in Arbroath from at least the late 1700's (possibly much earlier) and who were nearly all flax mill workers. My paternal grandfather, George Johnston Christie (b. 1884) emigrated to New Zealand (where I was born) around 1910 after his father James (b. 1857) divorced his wife Barbara (nee Finlayson) in about 1907. James' parents were James Christie (b. 1817) and Mary Fettes and they had 4 other children (Robert, Isabel, Mary Ann and Agnes). That James' parents were Robert Christie (b. ~1781, d. ~ 1841 I think) and Isabell(a) Whitelaw. Would love any more info or to hear from anyone that is descended from this line of Christie's, especially in Arbroath.

My Grandmother was born in ARBROATH, Scotland on the 29th October 1915 and emmigrated to Australia when she was about 11 I believe. She passed away in 1985...very sadly missed, even after all these years. I believe she had a brother named William, born on her 2nd birthday and a sister named Jessie.
