DAD’S ARMY

By Jimmy Perry and David Croft

Following their sell out success at Monifieth Theatre last year MAD return to the stage with their original cast

ACT I

MUM’S ARMY
After Mainwaring announces that women are to join the Home Guard several lady friends of the platoon come forward, as does Fiona Gray, an elegant, quietly-spoken widow who has brought her mother down from London to escape the bombs. Mainwaring is very taken by her and contrives to have morning coffee in a local teashop she regularly uses, where they are interrupted by various platoon members. They are seen out a lot together and Wilson tries in vain to tell Mainwaring that he is the subject of gossip. Fiona realizes this and so decides to return to London without telling Mainwaring, who arrives at the station in time to say goodbye to her.

ACT II
THE DEADLY ATTACHMENT
Mainwaring's men have been detailed to guard a captured German U-boat crew until a military escort arrives. When the escort is delayed, the platoon must house them in the church hall overnight. It turns out to be a trying time; the German U-Boat captain is a defiant leader who expects only the finest fish and chips and lets it be known that he is noting down enemy names for future reference.
